What opens when you press the button
The page contains a finite set of original, neutral reflection prompts. Pressing Open the book requests a cryptographically generated random index and displays one prompt. The question is never entered, read, stored, or sent anywhere, so the software cannot tailor its response. A new press simply makes another independent random selection.
Prompts focus on evidence, reversibility, affected people, missing facts, rest, and trade-offs. They avoid promises, diagnoses, commands, and claims to know the future. This is intentionally different from a generated “psychic” answer that mirrors details from a question and can create a false impression of personal insight.
Why a broad sentence can feel personal
People naturally connect ambiguous language to the situation already occupying their attention. That can make a randomly selected sentence feel unusually precise. The feeling may support reflection, but it does not show that the selection process discovered hidden facts. The disclosure beneath every result keeps the random mechanism visible at the moment of interpretation.
If a prompt helps, translate it into a concrete question: what evidence is missing, what step is reversible, or who needs to be consulted? If it does not fit, discard it. Repeatedly opening prompts until one confirms a desired answer is a sign to pause and examine the decision directly rather than treating randomness as permission.
Keep the book to low-stakes reflection
Do not use the page for emergencies, medical symptoms, legal rights, financial trades, self-harm risk, abuse, or decisions that require another person’s consent. Contact the appropriate service, professional, or trusted person instead. A random sentence has no access to urgency, history, evidence, or consequences and cannot carry professional responsibility.
No account is required and no reading history is created. The tool offers a moment of structured uncertainty, not an oracle. Its safest role is to help someone rephrase a low-stakes question, notice an assumption, or take a small reversible action while remaining fully responsible for the real decision. Because the prompt list is finite, repeated sessions will eventually repeat sentences; repetition is a property of the list, not a sign that one message is especially destined.
