What this tool does
Join lines with a chosen separator or split text on a literal separator into reviewable lines. Use Join & Split Lines Tool when pasted notes, exported rows, copied values, or draft text need one clear change before they move into another document. It belongs to the Transform & Format collection, and the related links at the end of the page cover useful next steps without mixing them into this result.
The workspace puts the source controls and the read-only result in separate panels so the transformed text is easy to compare. Every action button names the exact change it will make. Changing the source or an option immediately removes the previous result, which prevents an older answer from appearing to match newer settings.
Method and privacy
Joining treats each source line as one value; splitting treats the separator as literal text. The separator field recognizes the displayed newline (\n), carriage-return (\r), tab (\t), and backslash (\\) shortcuts. Other punctuation such as a period or vertical bar has no hidden pattern meaning. You can explicitly keep or omit empty values.
Your working text stays in this browser tab and is not added to an account, page address, or public history. The page does not send ordinary tool input to NexaCurrent. Leaving, refreshing, or closing the page clears the normal workspace, so copy any result you want to keep before navigating away.
How to use Join & Split Lines Tool
Enter the separator exactly as it appears, or use the visible \n, \r, \t, or \\ shortcut. Choose whether empty values matter, run Join or Split, and compare the reported item count with the source. Use a dedicated table converter instead when fields can contain their own separators.
Run one action and read the short result summary before copying. Copy result confirms success on the button; if browser permission is denied, the result remains visible so you can select it manually. Clear result removes the output and its previous status without changing the source. Reset restores the starting options, empties the source fields, and confirms that the workspace was reset.
Validation and troubleshooting
A non-empty literal separator is required. The visible \n, \r, \t, and \\ shortcuts become a real newline, carriage return, tab, or backslash; other characters have no pattern meaning. Keep empty values retains adjacent separators or blank source lines, while Omit empty values removes only truly empty entries.
After each run, compare the action name, short summary, and read-only result with the source. Changing any source field or option clears the previous answer. If a later action fails, its error also leaves the result empty, so an older successful value cannot be mistaken for the current outcome.
Limits and responsible use
Line comparison is textual and does not understand aliases, spelling corrections, CSV quotation, or business identifiers. Joining and splitting with a literal delimiter is not a substitute for a CSV parser when values can contain delimiters, quotes, or embedded line breaks.
Keep an unchanged copy of important source text. Do not use a convenience transformation as the only review for legal names, quotations, financial records, medical information, credentials, or publishing data. When exact characters or layout matter, compare the final pasted version in its destination before deleting the original.
