Adobe Rolls Out Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 2027 With Expanded AI Tools

Adobe launches Elements 2027 lineup with generative AI

Adobe on September 16, 2026 announced Photoshop Elements 2027 and Premiere Elements 2027, the latest versions of its consumer-focused photo and video editing applications, with both products gaining new AI-powered features designed for casual editors. The release is positioned as a beginner-friendly counterpart to the company's flagship Creative Cloud apps and continues Adobe's broader push to integrate generative capabilities into its mainstream tools.

New AI tools in Photoshop Elements 2027

Photoshop Elements 2027 introduces Generative Expand, which lets users extend an image beyond its original frame by filling in surrounding space with matching AI-generated content. The release also adds Generative Upscale, an AI-driven tool intended to improve the apparent clarity and detail of low-resolution images as they are enlarged. Both features join a new AI Tools Hub that consolidates the application's AI-powered editing tools in a single location.

Adobe is also bringing its AI Assistant to Photoshop Elements as a beta feature, allowing users to describe a desired edit in plain language and receive step-by-step guidance for common tasks. The assistant previously appeared on Photoshop for web and mobile before expanding to the Photoshop desktop beta. Rounding out the photo app, a new Creative Filters set applies artistic styles such as Embroidery, Oil Painting, and Duotone, with user-controllable sliders for intensity, texture, and color.

Premiere Elements 2027 adds generative graphics and editing aids

Premiere Elements 2027 mirrors the consumer focus of its photo counterpart, adding generative capabilities aimed at simplifying video work. Users can generate images from text prompts to fill timeline gaps or create overlays, while a new Generative Title Art feature converts plain text into stylized graphics using text-based prompts. The release also introduces Contextual Toolbars that surface relevant editing tools when users describe the task they want to complete, in a similar beginner-friendly vein to Photoshop Elements' AI Assistant.

Adobe is also adding sample photos and videos so users can experiment with tools without importing their own footage, and Editing Indicators that help users identify effects, transitions, and text formatting while editing. Together, the additions extend Premiere Elements' generative feature set beyond what was available in earlier versions.

Pricing, availability, and Elements Organizer update

Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 2027 are available now. Adobe is selling each program individually for $100, while a bundle of both applications is priced at $150. Generative AI features typically cost one credit per use; standalone versions of each app include 25 credits per month, while the bundle includes 100 generative credits per month. Additional credits are available through a dedicated AI subscription.

Alongside the two editing apps, Adobe updated Elements Organizer, its companion application for managing photo and video libraries, with feature changes tied to the Elements 2027 release.

Elsewhere: Adobe Premiere's IBC 2026 Color Mode updates

Separately, Adobe used the IBC 2026 show floor to demonstrate new Color Mode capabilities in a public beta of its professional Premiere video editor. Three new style modules debuted in the demo: Midtones, a bidirectional curve tool for fine-tuning midtone luminance ranges; Variable Vibrance, which separates saturation from skin tones; and Vignette, which features a transparent heads-up display with adjustable size, roundness, color, and softness. A new Auto Color tool balances exposure and white balance with a single click and can be applied across a custom group or an entire sequence. The IBC demonstration also introduced new HSL and luminance masks, a skin tone indicator showing the full range of human skin tones, and a hardware partnership with Tangent showing a working prototype of the Tangent Wave 2 console mapped to Color Mode. Color Mode first appeared in public beta at NAB 2026.
