Casting and creative team
Steven Yeun will star in and executive produce a new Netflix series titled Pagans, a supernatural drama created by Joshua Zetumer, the showrunner of FX's Say Nothing. Zetumer also wrote the original spec script on which the series is based, with the show landing at Netflix last year via a straight-to-series order after a multi-outlet bidding war, and he is attached as showrunner.
Series premise and tone
The series follows Gus, portrayed by Yeun, who becomes the sole caretaker of his two children after the tragic loss of his wife. While his son is typical, his daughter Alice is anything but, and what starts as a strained father-daughter relationship evolves into something far more sinister, described as equal parts emotional, horrifying and humorous in the series description.
Production credits and executive producers
Alongside Zetumer, the executive producers include Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles, Jonathan van Tulleken, Erica Kay, and Yeun and Christina Oh of Celadon Pictures. The series marks a return to a familiar genre for Yeun following his television debut and breakout role in The Walking Dead.
Yeun's Netflix slate and other credits
Yeun will next appear in the Netflix feature film Animals opposite Ben Affleck, who also directed, and Kerry Washington and Gillian Anderson, having previously starred with Affleck and Matt Damon in The Rip earlier this year. His additional credits include voicing the title character in Prime Video's animated series Invincible and roles in Nope and Mickey 17, and he is represented by CAA and Hansen Jacobson.
