Release across consoles and PC
Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe confirmed that Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters launched on August 28, 2026, with availability on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The publisher noted the title is offered in Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate Editions. The launch trailer published the same day by Bandai Namco showcases Tsubasa Ozora again representing Japan as the team pursues the World Youth Championship.
Developer and series positioning
The game is developed by Tamsoft and published by Bandai Namco, with the publisher framing the release as the first new mainline console entry in the Captain Tsubasa series in roughly six years. Tamsoft is credited on the IGN India launch trailer page, and Bandai Namco describes the gameplay as returning Super Action Football mechanics in which players compete with supercharged, anime-inspired abilities.
Roster, teams and new systems
According to the publisher's announcement, Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters features 22 national teams — including Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands and Mexico — alongside more than five club teams, five high school teams and a special Real Japan team drawn from the original manga. Players can control more than 110 playable characters and execute more than 150 new moves and cutscenes. A new goalkeeper-versus-shooter system pits shot specialists against signature saves in dedicated sequences, while passing, dribbling, tackling and shooting blend football tactics with character-specific techniques.
Music, story and regional rollout
Composer Tadayoshi Makino returns with more than 80 new tracks, and the story mode includes an original scenario supervised by original author Yoichi Takahashi. Bandai Namco Entertainment Korea separately launched the Korean version on August 27, 2026 on PS5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S, with the Steam release following on August 28. The Korean publisher is running promotional events through September 6, including draws for food coupons and a signed voice-actor set tied to Steam wishlist registration by August 30.
