A Pending, Multi-Market Card Launch

Gate and Visa announced a collaboration to launch a crypto-linked Visa card that the companies say is expected to roll out across more than 40 countries and territories. The product, framed by Gate as an extension of digital assets into everyday spending, has not yet launched; details on supported markets, eligibility, supported assets and service availability have been directed to the product page rather than disclosed in the announcement. Both companies presented the deal as a way to connect digital asset balances with Visa's established payment infrastructure rather than as a completed, live service.

How the Card Would Convert and Be Managed

Under the arrangement described in the announcement, crypto assets held in a user's Gate account would be automatically converted into fiat currency at the point of sale when the card is used. Purchases would be possible online and in-store wherever Visa is accepted, covering everyday shopping, dining and travel. Users would apply for and manage the card through the Gate app, keeping card administration within the same environment as their existing digital asset holdings.

Visa's Network Footprint and Broader Crypto Card Context

Visa is contributing its global digital payments acceptance network, which the announcement says spans more than 175 million merchant locations across more than 200 countries and territories. The announcement also cited an industry data point: more than 160 stablecoin-linked Visa card programs are now live globally, with payment volume up nearly 200% year-over-year, a figure Gate and Visa offered as evidence of the rapid expansion of crypto card adoption. Visa's Head of Digital Currencies, APAC, Nischint Sanghavi, framed the partnership around consumer demand for flexible, convenient and widely accepted payment methods and reiterated Visa's commitment to connecting new forms of value with its existing infrastructure.

Gate's User Base and the Gate Money Layer

Gate, founded in 2013, said it serves more than 61 million users and supports trading across more than 5,300 crypto assets and more than 12,800 stock assets, alongside access to metals, indices, forex and commodities. The announcement also formally introduced Gate Money, a financial services application that brings digital assets, fiat currencies, stocks, ETFs, gold, bank accounts and payments together inside the Gate app; users can update to app version 8.39.0 to enable it, and eligible users can apply online for a global bank account held in their own name. Gate Founder and CEO Dr. Han described the Visa partnership as a way to link users' digital asset accounts with a broader set of commercial scenarios.

What the Announcement Does Not Yet Specify

The reviewed sources confirm the partnership, the expected 40-plus market scope and the conversion-at-point-of-sale mechanic, but do not disclose launch timing, a list of supported markets, eligibility criteria, which crypto assets the card will support, or fee structures. Those specifics remain, according to the announcement, on the product page rather than in the press materials reviewed here.
