Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 reaches supported Pixel phones
Google pushed Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 to enrolled Pixel testers on August 28, 2026, rolling out to devices from the Pixel 6a through the Pixel 10 series and the Pixel 10a. The release marks another late-week Friday drop of a quarterly platform release update and is distributed through the Android Beta Program, with OTA images also available for manual flashing. According to the build notes, the update carries version identifiers CP41.260814.003.A2, CP41.260814.003.B1, and CP41.260814.003.C2, with emulator support for x86 (64-bit) and ARM (v8-A).
Pixel 11 series left out for now
The new Beta 4 build is not yet available for Google's Pixel 11 series, a departure from the rollouts of Beta 3 and earlier that supported the newest hardware. Google indicated support for the Pixel 11 line would arrive "soon," without committing to a specific date. Separately, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are excluded from this wave because they are expected to reach end of life before the update would otherwise be delivered, meaning affected users on those two models will not see this beta at all.
Security patch level and Play services bundled
The build ships with the August 5, 2026 security patch level and Google Play services version 26.28.33. As with prior QPR2 releases, the update is delivered as a system-level quarterly refresh rather than a feature drop, positioning it as a stabilization step ahead of a wider Pixel 11 rollout and any future platform branch.
Sixteen fixes across UI, audio, and thermals
Google's release notes list at least 16 bug fixes in Beta 4, spanning thermal management, Bluetooth call audio, and several System UI and launcher issues. A thermal management issue that caused devices to overheat and unexpectedly reboot during use was resolved, along with a fix for phone call audio that had defaulted to the phone speaker instead of connected Bluetooth devices. Other addressed bugs include a Recents app switcher rendering glitch, an audio service resource lock that blocked microphone use during screen recording, and a launcher search input failure in the app drawer.
Developer, rendering, and accessory fixes
The notes also cover rendering and accessory behaviors tied to the developer "render apps below the cutout area" toggle and connected USB-C XR smart glasses. Enabling that developer option had left a transparent status bar on the launcher after exiting fullscreen video, while gesture navigation could become unresponsive under the same condition; both are fixed in Beta 4. Screen mirroring to external USB-C XR glasses and 3D mode on connected smart glasses are also restored, and a low-contrast Wi-Fi settings cog icon in dark mode has been adjusted. The update closes out a series of notification-bar pull-down glitches and a WebGL application freeze triggered by shadow maps combined with vertex color attributes.
Next milestone
Google has not yet published a fixed date for Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 on the Pixel 11 series, saying only that the build will arrive "soon." Users enrolled in the Android Beta Program are positioned to receive the update over the air as soon as it is published, with manual OTA images available in the interim.
