GSK agrees to acquire Chimagen trispecific TCE program

GSK plc said on September 15, 2026, that it has agreed to acquire full global rights to a trispecific T-cell engager (TCE) program from privately held Chimagen Biosciences, with a total potential value of up to $750 million. Under the terms, GSK will pay an upfront fee for global rights, and Chimagen is eligible to receive additional success-based development and commercial milestone payments.
The asset is designed to bind T cells while simultaneously targeting two tumor-associated antigens, an approach GSK said is intended to deliver deeper and more durable responses and improved tolerability compared with existing TCEs. GSK identified the US TCE market for multiple myeloma as expected to exceed $10 billion by 2032 and cited approximately 180,000 new global multiple myeloma cases per year as the unmet need behind the move.
Phase I start planned for 2027 alongside existing Chimagen work
GSK said the trispecific TCE program is expected to enter phase I clinical trials in 2027, subject to customary closing conditions. The acquisition is structured to build on GSK's existing multiple myeloma and broader blood-cancer portfolio.
The agreement extends a prior collaboration with Chimagen covering CMG1A46, a clinical-stage dual CD19/CD20-targeted TCE currently in phase I trials for B-cell malignancies and B-cell dependent autoimmune disorders.
Pipeline rationale and commercial positioning
GSK framed the deal as part of its approach of acquiring differentiated assets with validated targets in blood cancer. The company said TCEs have shown transformational efficacy in multiple myeloma but have been associated with difficult tolerability profiles, which the trispecific design is intended to address.
Separately, Berenberg upgraded GSK on the same day, a development Blockonomi reported alongside the Chimagen acquisition as drivers of the stock's gains.
