Lloyds Banking Group has opened applications for its Launch Innovation programme, inviting UK fintech start-ups and scale-ups to pitch solutions aimed at the group's retail and small-business customer base. The bank said the programme will give successful applicants direct access to 28 million retail customers and one million business customers across its banking, mortgages, insurance, investments and motor divisions. Applications are being accepted through September 30, 2026.

Four challenge areas

The programme is structured around four operational challenges for pitching teams. "Simpler home ownership" targets tools that help customers find, buy and manage homes through improved data and digital experiences. "Better mortgage broker journeys" focuses on reducing paperwork and automating tasks during the mortgage application process. "More connected customer services" covers helping users manage travel, motoring and energy bills. "More confident investing" seeks tools that help customers understand affordability and manage investment portfolios.

Working with Lloyds specialists

Selected applicants will work directly with specialists drawn from across the group's divisions, spanning banking, mortgages, insurance, investments and motor services. The programme is positioned as a route for technology businesses and individual founders to pilot products inside a major UK banking ecosystem, with potential to scale across the group's customer base.

Track record and next milestone

The launch follows a previous investment of £4 million in Caura, cited as a prior example of the group's fintech engagement. The September 30, 2026 application deadline is the next verifiable milestone for the programme, after which successful applicants are expected to begin working with Lloyds' internal teams.
