Netflix said on Sunday that its live-action series “Scooby-Doo: Origins” has officially wrapped production in Atlanta, positioning the show for a global release on the streamer in 2027. The announcement was made on Netflix’s social channels alongside behind-the-scenes photos of the cast and crew. “Our Great Dane pup and his gang of meddling kids have officially wrapped production on Scooby-Doo: Origins, coming 2027!,” the company wrote on X, with the same post shared to Instagram. The official “Scooby-Doo” account replied on Instagram, “We’ve never been more seated.”

Cast, creative team and series premise

The series is described as a “modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog,” with the official logline noting that “during their final summer at camp, old friends” are drawn into a mystery. The cast features McKenna Grace as Daphne, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred, with Scooby depicted as an adorable pup central to the case. Scott Rosenberg, whose credits include “High Fidelity” and “Everything Sucks!,” and Josh Appelbaum, also a “High Fidelity” writer, are serving as showrunners, writers and executive producers. The original “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!” was created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears and premiered in 1969, spawning follow-up series such as “A Pup Named Scooby-Doo,” “Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo” and “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?”

Separately, comedian Dyon “Mojo” Brooks, known as Mojo Brookzz, announced that his debut Netflix special “I Know You Lying” will premiere globally on the service on October 6. The special was first reported by Deadline.
