Parle Biscuits, the maker of Parle-G, Monaco, Hide & Seek and Melody, appointed former PepsiCo executive George Kovoor as its chief executive officer on September 1, 2026. Kovoor is the first professional CEO in the company's history, as Parle Biscuits had previously been run by the promoter family. Ajay Chauhan, managing director of Parle Biscuits, welcomed the appointment, saying Kovoor's experience would help the company strengthen its capabilities and identify new opportunities for sustainable growth.

Three decades at PepsiCo across India, China and the US

Kovoor spent more than 30 years at PepsiCo in leadership roles spanning India, the Asia-Pacific region, China and the United States. His assignments included franchise operations and sales, senior roles in Asia, and positions as vice president for the China and Hong Kong market units at PepsiCo Foods China, vice president for sales development and transformation for Greater China, and general manager of PepsiCo's China Snacks and Foods business. He later moved to PepsiCo's New York headquarters, where he led the company's international and global foodservice operations, before returning to India as senior vice president and general manager of PepsiCo's India beverages business.

Career path from Brooke Bond India to a global FMCG operator

Kovoor began his professional career at Brooke Bond India, part of Unilever, where he worked for about three years before joining PepsiCo. Over the subsequent three decades, he held senior responsibilities across beverages, foodservice, sales and business operations in multiple consumer categories and markets. His cross-category and cross-market experience was cited by Parle Biscuits as central to the appointment, with Chauhan pointing to Kovoor's ability to drive results, develop talent and navigate complex markets.

Appointment lands as Parle Products prepares for an IPO

The CEO change comes as Parle Products, Parle Biscuits' parent, is preparing for an initial public offering. Coverage described Parle as "IPO-bound," with Kovoor's first-ever CEO role positioned within the company's broader leadership restructuring ahead of its planned public-market debut. The appointment was reported uniformly across BusinessToday, Outlook Business, Livemint and the Economic Times on September 1, 2026.
