Love Island finale twist draws fan backlash

Ahead of ITV's Season 13 finale, Love Island producers announced that only three couples will proceed to the concluding show, forcing the returned eliminated pair that received the most votes to choose an additional couple to eliminate. Samraj and Mica, who received the highest number of votes at the fire pit, were handed a shock text instructing them to select one pair to depart with them. The twist prompted criticism on the show's subreddit, where fans argued that limited public voting had diminished the season's engagement. Some viewers expressed concern that fan favorites Julia and Lorenzo, who topped previous public votes, could miss the finale entirely, with one commenter stating they might "tune out" of future seasons if audience votes did not carry more weight.
