Publisher eastasiasoft and developer Frozen Flame Interactive announced that the side-scrolling action-adventure game *Okko The Exiled* will launch for PC via Steam and GOG on September 30, 2026. The standard edition will be priced at $14.99 (€14.99), with a deluxe edition that includes the digital soundtrack priced at $19.99 (€19.99). A 10 percent launch discount will be available for the first two weeks following release.

A three-person studio built every enemy, boss, level, and ability

Frozen Flame Interactive is a three-person team, and its members built every enemy, boss, level, and ability in the game. After 1,000 years of concealment, the warrior Okko returns to the demon-ruled land of Kutala wielding a weapon called the Mighty Fang, with the goal of defeating the Demon Lord Yalda and linking his long-isolated world with the heavens. Coverage describes the tone as mythologically dark while character dialogue brings an expressive cast of allies to life, and the hub area The Old Throne functions as both a tavern and a mystery, allowing Okko to eat to recover, trade goods, and gradually uncover secrets buried in the place's depths.

Combo system rooted in DuckTales lineage, split by player feedback

Combat is built around six connected actions: launch, stomp, bounce, shoot, deflect, and melee, designed to chain into aerial combos. A well-timed melee hit can send an enemy airborne, a downward attack can bounce Okko off that enemy, and that bounce can be redirected into another aerial hit or a follow-up deflect of a projectile. The stomp mechanic is described as having direct lineage to the downward pogo attack in the NES classic *DuckTales*, and a Focus Mode layer sits above all of it, consuming Heart Energy for bonus damage and shield-breaking.

During the 2025 demo period, player feedback split noticeably. One player wrote that the bounce mechanic was very hard to execute and requested an alternate button binding as an accessibility option, while another called the weapon-stop animation an "archaic design choice" that slows combat flow, and a third praised the same system's "skill ceiling." Frozen Flame Interactive has not changed the mechanic's fundamental design, which coverage frames as a deliberate retention of the skill ceiling as a feature.

Consoles and physical editions targeted for early 2027

Versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch are in development and expected in early 2027, both digitally and at physical retail. Coverage lists announced key features including the launch, stomp, bounce, shoot, and deflect action set, the Focus Mode bonus-damage layer, stat upgrades and unlockable abilities, hand-drawn pixel art, and Deevol collection to unlock Underground challenge levels.

Other developments

Separately, Kakao Games announced that PC MMORPG *ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom*, developed under project director Kyung-tae Kim, who served as lead game designer and producer on the original *ArcheAge*, is scheduled to launch on Steam in Q2 2027, with a developer preview video featuring never-before-seen gameplay planned for later this month.

Next verifiable milestone: the September 30, 2026 PC release of *Okko The Exiled* on Steam and GOG.
