Pennsylvania online casinos generated $328.6 million in gross revenue in August, the second-highest monthly total since the market launched in 2019, according to figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). The total was a 5.3% increase from July's $311.9 million, and one industry tracker framed the month-over-month change as a 6.25% jump. Year over year, August 2026 ran 9.6% above August 2025's $291.5 million, and 12.7% higher when licensees are aggregated on the same basis used in the PGCB's licensee table.
Licensee-level breakdown and tax contribution
Gross revenue was uneven across the eleven licensees reporting activity. Penn National led at $121.3 million (up 14.3% year over year), followed by Valley Forge at $106.2 million (up 19.9%) and The Rivers Philadelphia at $47.6 million (up 6.8%). Bally's Pennsylvania posted the largest percentage gain at 62.4% (to $7.1 million), while Mohegan Sun rose 40.0% to $3.4 million. Two licensees, Live! Philadelphia and Wind Creek, were down sharply at -50.2% and -44.6% respectively, and Mount Airy reported zero online casino revenue against $3.4 million a year earlier. The month's iGaming activity generated $73.4 million in state tax revenue plus $40.0 million in county grants and local share assessments. PGCB's headline figure of $245.7 million for July, used as a comparator, reflects adjusted gross revenue after promotional spend, whereas the license-by-license totals reflect gross revenue.
Two-year growth and 2026 trajectory
August's result extends a 12.9% year-to-date gain over the first eight months of 2025, with every reported month of 2026 outpacing its 2025 counterpart: January up 18.0%, February 14.9%, March 12.4%, April 9.4%, May 10.0%, and June up 14.3% (the remaining 2026 months were not detailed in the source). Compared with $225.0 million in iGaming revenue in August 2025, the August 2026 gross total represents an additional $103.6 million, a 46% rise across two years, though the two figures are not directly comparable because the earlier number is reported as iGaming revenue while the 2026 total is gross revenue before promotional deductions.
Reporting basis and unresolved question
Coverage differs on whether the August-over-July change should be read as 5.3% or 6.25%, a gap that tracks the difference between the gross-revenue figure cited by Crossing Broad and the adjusted gross-revenue figure used by PlayUSA. The state's September monthly release, typically issued by the PGCB in the following month, is the next verifiable data point for tracking whether Pennsylvania's online casino market sets a new monthly record.
