Eagle Mountain and Nittetsu sign project-evaluation MoU
Eagle Mountain Mining has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Japan's Nittetsu Mining to jointly identify and consider potential new mineral projects. According to a report published on 21 July 2026 by Mining Technology, the two companies will review and evaluate opportunities mainly involving copper, gold, lead, lithium, nickel, silver and zinc, broadening their respective mineral pipelines with a focus on battery and industrial commodities.
Canada Nickel's Crawford project reaches final federal review
Canada Nickel Company's Crawford Nickel Project has advanced to the final federal impact assessment decision stage, the company announced on 21 July 2026. The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada has submitted its Final Impact Assessment Report to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change. The release said a Minister's Decision Statement is expected within 30 days of submission, setting a near-term federal decision point for one of Canada's largest nickel deposits.
Crawford as a regulatory first in Canada
The 21 July 2026 release stated that the Crawford Nickel Project is the first mining project to reach this stage of federal environmental review in Canada, positioning it as a bellwether for future nickel and critical-minerals permitting in the country.
