Monadnock Music schedules free string quartet performances in New Hampshire
Monadnock Music's Summer Village Concert series announced two free performances: July 25 at 7 p.m. at the Park Hill Meetinghouse in Westmoreland, and July 26 at 4 p.m. at the Old Meeting House in Francestown. The ensemble includes musical director and cellist Rafael Popper-Keizer, violist Tanner Menees, and violinists Eunae Koh and Nathan Meltzer, playing Onslow's String Quartet No. 29 in D minor and Schumann's String Quartet No. 1 in A minor. Each performance runs approximately 75 minutes including an intermission, and is followed by a reception with the musicians.
Wyoming International Chamber Music Festival plans expanded second edition
The Wyoming International Chamber Music Festival returns for its second year from Aug. 7 through Aug. 16, with free concerts totaling about 20 hours of music. Artistic director Ross McIntosh has brought Daniel Galbreath on board as executive director and conductor for this year's edition. The opening concert at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Laramie will feature Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, Telemann's violin concerto "The Frogs," and works by Mahler and Lully, alongside a premiere by composer-in-residence Anne Guzzo. Velez Blanco festival pays tribute to harpsichordist Wanda Landowska
The Festival of Renaissance and Baroque Music in Velez Blanco presented a concert titled "Wanda Landowska, perspectives" with ensemble La Tempestad under harpsichordist Silvia Marquez Chulilla, honoring the pioneering early-music advocate. Vietnam launches inaugural International Flute Festival
The Việt Nam International Flute Festival (VIFF) opened on July 23 in Phú Quốc and runs through July 28, marking the country's first global gathering of leading flautists. Founded by Grammy Award-winning flautist Erin Bouriakov, the festival features masterclasses, performances and competitions across Junior, MH and Young Artist divisions, with a US$1,000 top prize for the Young Artist champion. Sebastian Jacot serves as Main Artist, joined by guest artists from the United States, Singapore, China, Italy and Japan. The programme concludes with the gala concert "When the Wind Sings" on July 28.
