Rolling Stones top Top Album Sales chart with 'Foreign Tongues'

The Rolling Stones achieve their first No. 1 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart as their new studio album Foreign Tongues bows atop the list dated July 25. The 35-year-old chart, which began tabulating electronically monitored piece counts via SoundScan (now Luminate) on May 25, 1991, ranks the top-selling albums of the week based on pure physical and digital sales. On the Billboard 200, Foreign Tongues debuts at No. 7, extending the Stones' own record for the most top 10s on that chart to 39 since it began publishing on a regular, weekly basis in March 1956, ahead of Barbra Streisand (34) and Frank Sinatra (33). The album lands in the top 10 on six Billboard album charts: Top Album Sales (No. 1), Billboard 200 (No. 7), Top Rock Albums (No. 2), Top Rock & Alternative Albums (No. 3), Vinyl Albums (No. 3) and Indie Store Album Sales (No. 3). The release follows a May 5 album launch event at The Weylin in Brooklyn, where Ronnie Wood, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards appeared together.

Charli xcx releases 'Music, Fashion, Film'

Charli xcx released her new album Music, Fashion, Film on Friday, July 24. The 11-track LP includes four previously released singles—"Camera," "SS26," "Rock Music" and "Wink Wink"—and closes with "No One Lasts Forever," which features a conversation with director David Cronenberg as the project's lone guest. Charli told Triple J she visited Cronenberg in Toronto, where they spoke for an hour and selected parts of the conversation that felt most related to the song, calling him "smart and kind" with "a really interesting perspective on legacy and art and artists." The British pop star previewed select tracks during underplay shows in New York and London earlier in July. Following the album's arrival, Charli will embark on a North American arena tour beginning Sept. 11 in Philadelphia, with additional stops in Brooklyn, Toronto, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Music, Fashion, Film follows her work on the Wuthering Heights soundtrack in February and builds on her Brat era, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and won three Grammys.
