Boycott calls in Argentina

Spanish singer Rosalía is facing growing backlash in Argentina for sharing a video related to that country's defeat in the 2026 World Cup final. Argentine fans and commentators have called for a boycott of the artist in response to the repost.
Rosalía's BRIT Awards recognition
Rosalía was named International Artist of the Year at the 2026 BRIT Awards live show, held in February at the Co-op Live Arena in Britain. The Manchester venue continued the ceremony's recent relocation away from London.
A broader shift across UK music awards
The BRIT Awards' staging outside London is part of a wider pattern across British music honours. The MOBO Awards and Mercury Prize have also ventured beyond the capital, and the Youth Music Awards is relocating to Liverpool in 2026 in a move that organizers describe as part of the same decentralisation trend.
Pressures on grassroots music
The awards' regional move comes against a backdrop of concentrated music industry support in the capital. Figures cited by organizers indicate that 86% of Youth Music funding organisations are based in London, 33,500 young people are on waiting lists for Youth Music programmes, and one-third of funded projects are reportedly contemplating closure due to financial pressure. The Youth Music Awards' Liverpool edition is also expected to create 21 new paid roles for young people.
