Nebraska post-hardcore band Cursive released "Wounded Animal," their first new track since the 2024 full-length Devourer, as part of the Who's Watching (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). The song is a full-band expansion of the main acoustic, instrumental theme used throughout the film, reworked into Cursive's signature blend of disjointed guitars, keys, and cello. The 15 Passenger Records release is scheduled for October 30, with the track available now alongside an open preorder.

A two-sided album from a fictional band and a horror score

The 13-song soundtrack is structured as two sides. Side A features Toxic Cock Syndrome (also stylized ToxiccSyndrome), a fictional metal band portrayed in the film. Those recordings are performed by Tim Kasher on guitar and backing vocals, Isaiah Radke and Darrion Lewis of Radkey on vocals and guitar respectively, Jonah Ray on drums, and Josh Ethier on bass. Side B contains the underscore: five eerie, evocative instrumentals composed by Kasher that underscore the film's psychological horror, plus "Wounded Animal."

Tim Kasher's film, Who's Watching, and its cast

Who's Watching was written and directed by Tim Kasher, Cursive's frontman, marking his directorial debut with an independent found-footage horror feature. The film stars Zachary Ray Sherman, whose performance earned him the Best Actor Award at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, alongside Gracie Gillam, Olivia Luccardi, and Steve Berg. The plot follows eccentric musician and aspiring filmmaker Sampson, who becomes obsessed with his new coworker Krista and secretly documents every aspect of her life to make her the subject of his film. Released by Dark Sky Films, the movie arrived in select theaters and on digital platforms on September 18.

Pre-release screenings and the next milestone

In the run-up to the soundtrack, Kasher has been staging screenings of Who's Watching paired with acoustic mini-sets of Cursive material. The soundtrack release on October 30 via 15 Passenger Records is the next verifiable milestone.
