Finecut has sold "After-School Exorcism Club: Girls' Night" to Catchplay+ in Indonesia, Shaw Organization in Singapore and Cola Films in Taiwan. The film had its world premiere at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival ahead of its domestic theatrical run and opened in Singapore cinemas in mid-August. It follows five high-school students investigating a spirit possessing their campus and racing to stop it before it seizes full control, with each of the five lead roles played by members of the K-pop group Fifty Fifty — Keena, Chanelle Moon, Yewon, Hana and Athena. Jung Zoo directs. The group broke through internationally with its 2023 single "Cupid" and returned with a new lineup in 2024.
Wi-Fi Love in the Palace adds Japan, Indonesia and Taiwan
"Wi-Fi Love in the Palace" has been picked up by KDDI Corporation for Japan, Catchplay+ for Indonesia and Cola Films for Taiwan. The film is based on the Kakao Page webtoon "Love and Wi-Fi in the Palace" and follows a webtoon artist chasing his next hit and a palace maid working her way up within the royal court, their stories crossing via a mysterious cabinet that bridges the present and a point 200 years back. Younghoon of The Boyz stars alongside Luda and Kim Dong-jun. Chang Tae-you, whose credits include "Bon Appétit, Your Majesty" and "My Love From the Star," serves as chief creative director, with Sa Seok-choon, co-director of "Bon Appétit, Your Majesty," directing.
Wind Up: The Movie expands into Hong Kong and Macao
"Wind Up: The Movie," starring NCT members Jeno and Jaemin, has picked up additional sales to Hong Kong and Macao through Emperor Cinemas. The new deals add to previously announced territory agreements covering the CIS (Best Cinema), inflight (Bofrato), Japan (KDDI Corporation), Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia (Purple Plan), Taiwan (Caichang International) and Thailand (Sahamongkolfilm International). The three titles are theatrical expansions of short-form series drawn from Kitz, the global K-pop-focused content platform operated by TakeOne Company.
A unified Kitz slate of K-pop theatrical features
The three films all stem from Kitz and were developed under TakeOne's broader push into multi-format K-pop IP. Another Finecut title from the Kitz slate, "Reapers on Duty," stars Monsta X's Hyungwon alongside Lee Min-ki as two grim reapers caught up in a storyline centered on extending a person's life. Finecut will present the slate at Broadcast Worldwide (BCWW) and at the ongoing Toronto Film Festival market alongside other company properties, including the animated feature "Long Long Night," the webtoon adaptation "Guardians of the Video Game" — drawn from source material with 345 million views — Park Hoon-jung's noir action film "Tristes Tropiques," and July Jung's "Dora," which was selected for Cannes Directors' Fortnight and a Gala Presentation at the Busan International Film Festival.
