A new classical concert at Lotte World Tower
Lotte hosted the inaugural 2026 Lotte Summer Classic Concert at World Park in Lotte World Tower on August 23, staging a free classical program against the Seoul night skyline. Attendance was reported at approximately 4,500 visitors, who gathered to escape late-summer heat and listen to the outdoor performance.
Performers and program
The concert was led by conductor Jung Hangeul (also referenced in English coverage as Han Kyul Jung) and the Ditto Chamber Orchestra. Soloists included violinist Danny Koo, tenor John Noh, and bandoneon player Koh Sangji. Under the theme "A midsummer night of classical music in the city, hosted by Lotte," the program ranged from traditional classical works to film and animation soundtracks, and was positioned as accessible to audiences of all ages.
Origin in the chairman's vision
The concert originated from a proposal by Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, who has argued that Lotte World Tower and Mall should evolve into a multi-purpose cultural space for citizens. The Summer Classic Concert joins Lotte's existing roster of seasonal events around the tower, including "Spring in Jamsil" during cherry blossom season, the winter light festival "Lotte Luminarie," and sports events such as "Sky Run" and the "Lotte Aquathlon." A Lotte representative said the company plans to continue preparing a variety of events so Lotte World Tower can establish itself as a cultural destination visitors of any age can enjoy.
Plans for an annual summer fixture
Lotte intends to make the Summer Classic Concert a regular signature event of the summer season, alongside its spring and winter cultural programming. The initiative coincides with rising visitor numbers: as of February 2026, cumulative visitors to Lotte World Tower and Lotte World Mall had surpassed 500 million, and the prior year's annual visitor count topped a record 60 million, with foreign tourist visits cited as a key driver.
