Eala stuns Osaka to reach Washington final

Alex Eala defeated four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka 6-4, 6-2 in the Mubadala DC Open semifinals in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night, booking her maiden WTA 500 final and her first championship match on hard courts. Fritz and Jodar set Washington men's final

Arthur Gea won his first ATP Tour title on Saturday, beating defending champion Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-4 in the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo final in Los Cabos. The 21-year-old Frenchman, ranked No. 127 entering the event, will rise to a career-high No. 81, becoming the fourth French ATP champion this season and the sixth player born in 2005 or later to win a tour-level title. Liutova becomes youngest WTA finalist since Gauff

Sixteen-year-old Kristina Liutova defeated Elvina Kalieva 7-5, 6-1 on Aug. 1 to reach the Memphis Classic final, becoming the youngest player to compete in a WTA final since Coco Gauff won the Linz Open in 2019. Liutova, in her first WTA tournament, will face Darja Vidmanova, who beat Renata Zarazúa 6-3, 6-3 in the other semifinal. The final is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. CT on Aug. 2 at Leftwich Tennis Center.

Vondrousova doping case details emerge

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) published findings from its case against Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova, who received a four-year ban for refusing a doping test at her Prague residence on December 3, 2025. According to the report, Vondrousova refused entry to a doping control officer, later signed a document declining to provide a sample, and sent messages to her boyfriend referring to the tester in vulgar terms. The Czech player, 27, has not played on the WTA Tour since the Adelaide Open in January and remains barred until June 2030, though she retains the right to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
