Chourio's milestone in a Brewers win
Jackson Chourio launched his 20th home run of the season on Aug. 29 as the MLB-leading Milwaukee Brewers defeated the visiting Texas Rangers 5-3 at American Family Field, extending their winning streak to four games. Chourio connected off Rangers starter Cal Quantrill in the first inning, and his homer came on a night when fans received cereal bowls bearing his name as they entered the ballpark.
Contreras adds a first-inning blast
Catcher William Contreras followed with a 409-foot, two-out homer to left on a 2-2 pitch, one strike away from Quantrill escaping the opening frame. The early back-to-back damage set the tone for Milwaukee, which stayed ahead the rest of the way and improved on its season-long push at the top of the standings.
Texas offense and AL West implications
Brandon Nimmo hit a two-run homer and Cody Freeman added a solo shot for Texas, but the Rangers could not overcome the early deficit. The loss was Texas's fourth straight and left the club two games behind Houston in the AL West after the Astros fell 6-2 to the New York Mets earlier on Aug. 29.
