Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra leads new foldable lineup
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, 2026, with a $2,099 price tag. The device measures 4.1mm when unfolded, making it the thinnest Galaxy foldable to date. It features an 8-inch inner AMOLED display at 3,000 nits, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, up to 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. The camera system includes a 200MP main sensor with full-resolution HDR, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, running Android 17 with One UI 9.
Flex Titanium display and silicon-carbon battery debut on Galaxy

Xiaomi's next flagship clears certification with in-house chip
A Xiaomi smartphone carrying model number 2608BPX34C has completed regulatory certification and is expected to launch as early as next month, according to tipster Digital Chat Station. Certification documents reportedly show 67W wired charging, Ultra-Wideband support, 5G including the n79 band, and certification for Xiaomi's proprietary AI large model platform. Industry sources suggest the device could debut as the next-generation MIX Fold, possibly MIX Fold 5, featuring a redesigned wide-fold architecture. The flagship is rumored to use Xiaomi's Xuanjie O3 system-on-chip manufactured on TSMC's 3nm process, with an ultra-large core at 4.05GHz, performance cores at 3.42GHz, efficiency cores at 3.02GHz, a GPU at 1.49GHz, and memory bandwidth up to 9,600MT/s. The device is expected to debut HyperOS 4, Xiaomi's next-generation operating system with a rebuilt system foundation.
Nothing denies exit rumors amid reorganization
Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis publicly denied a digit.in report on July 24 that the company planned to exit a dozen markets, calling the claims "FAKE NEWS" on X. He confirmed that the Phone (4b) sold 29,537 units on its first day, breaking records in its price segment. Nothing acknowledged a broader reorganization introducing dedicated business units, including an AI-native unit, and consolidating country operations into regional hubs. Evangelidis said the restructuring impacts certain positions, noting that reported numbers are "way overblown" without providing specifics due to regulatory compliance. The company will not launch a new flagship this year, with the Phone (3) carrying that role through 2026 and the (4a) series emphasized for upgrades.
HMD launches Touch AI feature phone in China
HMD launched the Touch AI in China at 469 yuan (approximately $69) as a feature phone with AI capabilities tailored for the local market. The device features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 2MP cameras on both sides, a 1,950mAh battery with USB-C charging, dual-SIM 4G, Wi-Fi, and hotspot functionality. Design cues come from Nokia Lumia devices, with a circular camera housing, cyan finish, and swappable back cases in yellow, blue, and white. The phone runs ByteDance's Doubao AI, supporting Chinese-English translation, text-to-image generation, object recognition and reorganization in photos, and study assistance, with built-in Alipay support and a distraction-free system with parental controls. The China version follows the HMD Touch 4G launched in India in October 2025.
