Microsoft responds to LG monitor McAfee advertisements
Ars Technica reported that Microsoft addressed complaints that certain LG monitors were installing and displaying McAfee promotional advertisements on top of Windows sessions. According to the report, Microsoft engaged after users documented the behavior, and the issue centered on LG monitor firmware overlaying advertising content over Windows desktop content.

The Python package winsyms was released to the Python Package Index, providing a command-line interface for downloading public PDB debugging symbols tied to specific Windows releases. Version 0.1.0 was uploaded on July 23, and the tool relies on WindowsSymbolsByVersion as its backend, supporting scope-based downloads such as system32 components.
China-linked group deploys new Windows loader
Security researchers at Group-IB, as reported by The Hacker News, detailed a previously undocumented Windows loader called TriBack attributed to a China-nexus threat cluster tracked as JadeProx. The cluster has targeted government, healthcare, and education organizations across Asia and Latin America, with an exposed Alibaba Cloud server revealing portions of its infrastructure.
