Berlin-based JustWatch Group officially launched JustWatch TV on October 20, expanding its streaming guide into a direct streaming service in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. One report also listed Switzerland among the initial markets, creating a discrepancy in the reported launch footprint that has not been resolved in the supplied material.

The service is available through the JustWatch apps and website. JustWatch said its guide has about 50 million users, while another report put its monthly audience at between 50 million and 60 million unique users globally.

Three streaming models at launch

JustWatch TV offers ad-supported video on demand, transactional video on demand and an ad-free subscription option priced at $3.99 per month. It launched with 30 content partners, including Cineverse, Leonine Studios, SND and Altitude, alongside previously announced partners Paramount, New Regency, Fremantle, Bleecker Street and Vortex Media.

JustWatch executives did not disclose the exact number of titles or viewing hours available at launch. The service was described as carrying a curated selection of a few hundred films and television titles.

Discovery remains central to the proposition

JustWatch positions the streaming service as an extension of its guide rather than solely a conventional competitor to other platforms. The company said it also aims to help consumers discover programming carried by third-party services while bringing attention to studios, distributors and their titles.

Founder and CEO David Croyé said JustWatch TV is intended to make movies and series easier to find and watch within the existing app. The broader strategy remains subject to execution: JustWatch has set an ambition of reaching 100 million global users in the coming years, but no timetable or contractual basis for that target was provided.
