Valve, working with CodeWeavers, released Proton 11.0-2e as the Wine-based compatibility layer powering Steam Play on Linux and SteamOS. The update is a small point release to the current stable Proton 11 branch and is delivered through normal Steam client updates. Phoronix reports the build is limited to EA App-related changes, while GamingOnLinux lists the full changelog. Two documented fixes apply to the EA App, the Electronic Arts storefront that replaced Origin: the launcher login window is no longer failing to receive focus under the Gamescope compositor, and EA App titles now display the correct splash image. Phoronix frames the Gamescope fix as especially relevant for Steam Deck and other Linux-based Steam hardware, with release assets hosted on the project's GitHub.

Proton 11.0-3 release candidate enters public beta

Alongside the point release, Valve published a Proton 11.0-3 release candidate that GamingOnLinux describes as a much larger change set intended to replace the current stable Proton 11 once Valve deems it ready. Users must opt into the Proton 11 Beta channel in Steam to test it, and Valve is soliciting feedback on regressions versus Proton 11.0-2. The candidate adds newly playable titles including Hero Plus, City Car Driving, Soul Land: Awakening World, Bloody Zombies, Welcome to Elderfield (demo), The Heroic Legend of America: Second Revolutionary War, Blair Witch VR, Cool People Club, The Eden of Grisaia, The Rabbit's Scroll, Elisa: The Innkeeper – Prequel, Korea, the IL-2 Series, One Shot: Fading Memory, Impulse Response, 8Bit Fiesta, and Aniimo.

Targeted fixes across audio, controllers, and crashes

The 11.0-3 candidate carries a long list of bug fixes. Audio issues are addressed in DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS after device suspend, LEGO Batman: The Videogame, Touhou Danmaku Kagura Phantasia Lost, and after roughly 30 minutes of gameplay in Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year. Controller behavior is improved for Far Cry New Dawn, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, and Split/Second when using Steam Input. Crashes and lock-ups are resolved in Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance, RaceRoom Racing (on ranked race join), and The Unfinished Swan (after opening the book). A Plan B: Terraform memory leak is patched, Helldivers 2 is fixed for not launching after a recent game update (previously rolled out via Proton Hotfix and Proton Experimental), the Final Fantasy XIV launcher is repaired on the Steam Frame, Hide and Moo! no longer errors on quit, and controllers are restored in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Smaller fixes cover Achron's missing-font warning and the Dragon Age: Inquisition controller regression.

Platform and compatibility additions

The candidate introduces early support for 32-bit OpenXR, which GamingOnLinux notes requires setting PROTON_USE_WOW64=1 on x86 hardware. Crysis and Crysis Wars are fixed for newer AMD CPUs that expose CPUID faulting, and additional Steam authentication changes are noted in the changelog excerpt. The release is presented as a beta, not a confirmed stable upgrade, with the candidate available only to users who opt into the Proton 11 beta channel until Valve promotes it.

Next milestone

The next verifiable step is Valve's promotion of Proton 11.0-3 from release candidate to the new stable Proton 11 release once testing feedback is processed; users can opt into the Proton 11 beta to participate ahead of that promotion.
