What July Weather Brings
July is Yeosu's hottest and most humid month, and by a wide margin its wettest month of the year.

Festivals and Events Around July 2026
The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo dominates the run-up calendar, and the build-up itself is being staged as a public festival. With 50 days to opening, organizers held a D-50 commemoration event at the Expo Digital Gallery on July 17, 2026, drawing around 4,000 residents and visitors. The program began with an opening video depicting the unification of Yeosu's 365 islands, followed by performances from the Yeosu City Choir, a hip-hop dance team, and a themed stage show titled "Connecting Islands, the Sea, and the Future."
The D-50 stage featured Kim Yongbin, Yeom Yuri, Yangpa, Secret and Kim Dahyun, with visitors invited to photograph themselves with the official mascot Daseomi. Two larger Expo moments sit just past the target month:

Getting to and Around Yeosu
The direct KTX from Seoul terminates at Yeosu-Expo Station, which sits inside the Expo waterfront district. The maritime cable car has no advance booking system; tickets are sold at the station ticket booth on the day.
The Korea Tourism Organization's curated course runs Yi Sun-sin Square → Jwasuyeong Bridge → Jinnamgwan Hall → Goso-dong Mural Village → Odongdo Island, about 3.26 km total. Yi Sun-sin Square is also the usual late-evening meeting point for harbor night-view walks. Local Dishes Worth Planning Around
Yeosu's signature taste is Gejang Baekban (marinated-crab rice sets): spicy yangnyeom-gejang, sweet-savory ganjang-gejang and a doenjang-gejang that splits the difference, all served on a single spread of banchan. The city's official "ten tastes" list covers Gejang Baekban, Sae-jogae (cockle) shabu-shabu, Jeoneo-hoe (sliced raw gizzard shad) and grilled jeoneo, Galchi-jorim (braised cutlassfish), Gaet-jangeo hoe and shabu-shabu (eel), Gul-gui (grilled croaker), Jangeo gui/tang (grilled eel or eel soup), Dolsan gat-kimchi, Seodae-hoe (raw sea bream sashimi) and a full Yeosu hanjeongsik set meal.
For a sit-down first stop near the station, the soy-sauce crab specialty shop Kkottol Gejang 1beonga is about ten minutes by taxi from Yeosu EXPO KTX station. A standard soy-sauce crab set meal runs around 35,000 Korean won, with soy-marinated crab, spicy marinated crab and seasoned shrimp on the tray. For a quieter local favorite, Yeosugejang Nangmanbyeolsig serves soy sauce crab plus spicy stir-fried crab.
After dark, the Nangman Pocha tented market on the waterfront is the late-evening ritual: grilled seafood, chewy octopus ramen and beer served from plastic stools with the harbor as backdrop.
