Adobe completes Topaz Labs acquisition

Adobe announced on September 23, 2026, that its acquisition of Topaz Labs is complete, bringing the AI-driven image and video enhancement company under Adobe's ownership. Adobe first disclosed its agreement to purchase Topaz Labs in June, and the deal has now closed with Topaz becoming part of Adobe while continuing to operate as an independent label. The companies said the integration will focus on bringing Topaz's upscaling and enhancement capabilities directly into Adobe's existing creative software and enterprise workflows.
Topaz Labs retains standalone brand identity
According to Adobe, Topaz Labs will continue to exist as a separate brand, with its existing applications across desktop, mobile, and web platforms remaining available to current users. Adobe framed the arrangement as a way to preserve Topaz's specialized product line while connecting it more tightly to Adobe's broader creative ecosystem. The standalone status means Topaz's apps will not be folded into Adobe Creative Cloud branding, even though the underlying technology will increasingly appear across Adobe's products.
Integration plans span Photoshop, Firefly, and Premiere
Adobe stated that it intends to bring Topaz Labs' advanced capabilities directly into the tools and workflows that creative professionals and enterprises already use, including Adobe Firefly, Photoshop, and Premiere. Topaz's AI-based upscaling, denoising, sharpening, and stabilization technology is already accessible inside Adobe Firefly and Photoshop as a third-party upscaling option, and the company indicated that integration will expand now that Topaz has moved from third-party to first-party status. Adobe also pointed to its Neurostream technology as enabling creatives to run complex AI models locally or through Topaz's cloud-based option, with early results highlighted in archival restoration, low-light refinement, mobile clip enhancement, and large-format preparation.
Adobe's stated rationale and enterprise positioning
In announcing the closing, Adobe said that integrating Topaz Labs' tools and models into everyday Creative Cloud workflows will benefit its global community of creative professionals and enterprises by reducing time spent moving between applications. The company also said it will optimize the performance of Topaz Labs models and leverage its enterprise relationships and global reach to raise awareness of Topaz Labs products. Topaz's upscaling technology, which the sources note won a 2025 Emmy Award for video technology, sits at the center of this positioning as Adobe emphasizes AI-assisted creative pipelines for both individual users and large organizations.
Other developments
Separately, Adobe announced that its Premiere mobile app, originally launched for iPhone almost a year ago, is now available on Android, expanding mobile editing access to additional creators.
