Fortinet announced on October 27, 2026, that it was introducing the FortiLink SASE Service to extend FortiSASE to small branch offices, remote facilities and other distributed locations without requiring a dedicated on-site firewall. The service is intended to secure and manage wired and wireless devices through a cloud-delivered service and a single management console.

The announcement marks a product expansion rather than a disclosed customer deployment or order. Fortinet said organizations can connect supported local networks to FortiSASE through supported Fortinet Wi-Fi access points and Ethernet switches, with traffic inspection, policy enforcement and management centralized.

The service addresses devices beyond endpoint protection

Fortinet said the FortiLink SASE Service can protect wired and wireless devices, including devices that cannot run FortiClient, without requiring endpoint agents on every device or a dedicated security appliance at each location. The company positioned the offering for environments where traditional endpoint agents or on-premises firewalls may be impractical, including sites with limited on-site IT resources.

The company’s stated benefits include broader device coverage, simpler deployment and centralized management. These are Fortinet’s product claims; the reviewed announcements did not provide customer adoption figures, pricing, independently measured security results or evidence of completed procurement.

Management is combined through FortiSASE

According to Fortinet, the service allows organizations to manage supported networking devices and security policies through a single console. It is built on the company’s unified networking and security architecture and extends FortiSASE beyond individual endpoints to entire microbranch environments.

Anthony James, Fortinet’s executive vice president of marketing, said the extension was intended to give organizations a simpler way to protect users and devices while retaining consistent security and centralized control. The announcement did not specify general-availability timing, supported operating conditions beyond the referenced Fortinet hardware, or additional approval requirements.

Commercial uptake remains undisclosed

Fortinet did not announce a named customer, deployment volume, revenue contribution or purchase value for the FortiLink SASE Service in the reviewed reports. The release establishes that the service had been announced and describes its intended functionality, but it does not establish that customers had already procured or deployed it at scale.
