ING Groep reported third-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings per share of 0.7365, above the forecast of 0.67, according to an earnings-call report published October 29. Revenue was €7.06 billion, matching expectations. Return on tangible equity rose to 16% from 14% a year earlier.
The Dutch lender said higher net interest income, stronger fee income and cost discipline supported the results. Total income increased 6.6% over the preceding 12 months, while costs rose about 2%, producing operating leverage of more than 400 basis points.
Revenue mix and customer growth
Commercial net interest income increased 13% from a year earlier, which ING attributed to higher deposit volumes and improved liability margins. Fee income rose 9%, supported by a larger customer base and increased cross-selling.
ING added 259,000 mobile primary customers during the quarter and more than 1.1 million over the preceding 12 months. More than 41 million customers now use its retail banking services, the company said.
The bank also reported €3.8 billion in net profit for the preceding six months and €403 million in risk costs, including €111 million related to an IFRS model update.
Capital distribution announced
ING announced €1.9 billion in additional capital distribution. It reported a CET1 ratio of 13.3%, up 30 basis points.
The company said it remained on track to generate €5 billion in fee income for 2026, one year ahead of its plan. That remained a company target rather than a realized annual result.
Shares fell after the release
ING’s shares fell 4.07% in premarket trading to $31.55 from $32.89, despite the adjusted EPS beat. Revenue matched forecasts, and the reviewed reporting did not establish a specific reason for the market decline.
