Samsung officially announced its first truly open-ear Galaxy Buds, the Galaxy Buds On, on October 1, 2026, setting a South Korea release for October 27, 2026 with additional markets to follow. The clip-style earbuds attach to the side of the ear without entering the ear canal, a design the company says leaves room for ambient sound while positioning the driver toward the ear.

Hardware, fit and audio design

Samsung designed the Buds On after examining different ear shapes, placing the speaker and battery where the company found they sit best, widening the contact area to distribute pressure and tuning a flexible band to keep the earbuds stable during movement. The earbuds use what Samsung calls a TwinBoost Speaker system, paired with an Audio Leakage Reduction system intended to limit how much sound escapes outward. Automatic volume adjustment reacts to changes in the surrounding environment.

The earbuds run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform with a Class-D amplifier. Samsung rates playback at up to 9.5 hours per charge. The charging case closely resembles the one used with Galaxy Buds 4.

Controls, calls and Galaxy AI features

Touch controls respond to "a light touch" at the back of the device, and head gestures can answer or end calls and dismiss alarms. Three microphones work with a voice pickup sensor that detects vibrations to keep call audio clear, supplemented by Samsung's Intelligent Clear Call processing.

Paired with a Galaxy phone or tablet, the Buds On support Gemini Live, Quick Voice Memo with Bixby and the head-gesture controls for calls, alarms and notifications.

Pricing, color and rollout scope

The Galaxy Buds On launch in South Korea on October 27, 2026 in black at 299,000 won, equivalent to roughly $220 or about Rs 21,100. Samsung has not announced a specific date for wider international availability beyond saying global markets will follow the Korean debut.
