Gemini Spark broadens access across subscription tiers
Google is significantly expanding access to Gemini Spark, its agentic AI task-delegation feature first unveiled at I/O 2026. After an initial rollout limited to AI Ultra subscribers in the US, the company is opening the assistant to Google AI Pro subscribers in the US and to AI Ultra subscribers in additional markets worldwide with local language support, according to coverage from July 24, 2026. AI Pro is priced at $19.99 per month, down from the $99.99-per-month AI Ultra tier where Spark originally launched; free users and $7.99-per-month AI Plus subscribers remain excluded.
Regional limits and what Spark does
Gemini Spark is designed to offload longer, multi-step tasks to AI, handling research, planning, and other complex workflows on a user's behalf while they focus on other activities. Google describes it as a "24/7 personal agent." The wider rollout still excludes users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Nigeria, with Google saying the feature will reach additional countries "soon."
macOS desktop integration planned for later this summer
Google has signaled that Spark is also expected to land in a bigger way on macOS later in the summer. The agent will work inside the Gemini desktop application for macOS, allowing it to interact with local files and automate workflows directly across the desktop, extending Spark's task-completion capabilities beyond the browser and mobile surfaces where it currently operates.
Gemini Live arrives on early Google Home hardware
Separately, Google has begun rolling out Gemini Live, the more conversational version of its assistant, to early Google Home devices. As of July 24, 2026, the feature is available on the first-generation Google Home Mini speaker and the Google Nest Hub display, with a Google Home Premium subscription required to use it. The expansion marks a notable broadening of where Gemini Live can be accessed beyond phones and newer smart-home hardware.
Pricing and subscription structure
The shift from the $99.99 AI Ultra tier to the $19.99 AI Pro tier represents a significant price reduction for access to Spark's agentic tools. AI Pro subscribers receive the feature in the US, while AI Ultra subscribers gain international access with local language support. Google Home Premium is positioned as a separate subscription layer for the Gemini Live experience on first-generation speakers and Nest Hub displays.
