SanDisk launches Optimus GX PRO 8100 and GX 7100 NVMe SSDs in India

Optimus GX PRO 8100: PCIe 5.0 flagship

The Optimus GX PRO 8100 is the higher-tier of the two launches, using a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface in the M.2 2280 S3-M form factor. SanDisk rates sequential reads at up to 14,900MB/s and sequential writes at up to 14,000MB/s, with the 1TB variant topping out at roughly 11,000MB/s on writes. The drive ships in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB capacities, with endurance reaching up to 4,800 TBW on the 8TB model and a 5-year limited warranty. A version with an anodised aluminium heatsink is offered for sustained workloads on gaming rigs, AI PCs and workstations, and the platform is shared with the WD Black SN8100.

Optimus GX 7100: PCIe 4.0 mainstream option

The Optimus GX 7100 targets laptops and handheld gaming devices, using a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface with the same M.2 2280 S3-M form factor. It is offered in 500GB to 4TB capacities, and the 1TB and 2TB versions deliver sequential reads of up to 7,250MB/s and sequential writes of up to 6,900MB/s, backed by nCache 4.0 caching and a 5-year limited warranty. SanDisk is positioning the drive for AAA gaming, everyday demanding applications and creative workloads on systems where PCIe 4.0 storage is the practical fit.

India pricing and retail channels

In India, the 1TB Optimus GX PRO 8100 without a heatsink is priced at ₹34,999, while the 1TB Optimus GX 7100 is priced at ₹26,799, with both available through Amazon India. Indian pricing for higher-capacity variants has not been announced. For reference, U.S. starting prices are $524.99 for the GX PRO 8100 and $207.99 for the GX 7100, figures that SanDisk notes are lineup starting prices rather than direct conversions of the Indian 1TB prices.
