ORICON weekly manga sales ranking
The most recent ORICON Japan Weekly Manga Sales Ranking, covering the tracking window for the week of July 27, 2026, places Eiichiro Oda's One Piece Vol. 115 at number one with an estimated 69,615 copies sold for the week and roughly 938,826 copies cumulative. Hiromu Arakawa's Daemons of the Shadow Realm Vol. 13 took second place at 66,274 weekly copies (cumulative 145,787), followed by Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter Vol. 39 at 43,398 weekly copies (cumulative 605,865). Rounding out the top ten were Shangri-La Frontier Vol. 27, Mitsuru Adachi's MIX Vol. 25, Ascendance of a Bookworm: Part 3 Vol. 10, One-Punch Man Vol. 37, Record of Ragnarok Vol. 28, The Ogre's Bride Vol. 10, and The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today Vol. 13.
Five-Minute Series horror anthology crosses 1.6 million copies
Kawade Shobo Shinsha's "Five Minutes Until a Terrifying Finale: Horror Best Selection," released on July 17, 2026, has surpassed 1.6 million copies in combined series sales. The volume is the first best-of edition in the decade-old "Five-Minute Series" and compiles ten of the most popular horror stories from prior entries, including the award-winning "Oh! I Dropped Something!," a collaboration between writer Yusuke Suga and manga artist Yako Yamamoto. That piece was adapted from a short-horror contest run from November 25, 2025 through January 29, 2026 by Mecha Comic Creators, Kawade Shobo Shinsha, and Every Star.
Manga Mavericks Books expands English-language lineup
At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Manga Mavericks Books announced it has licensed Rin Kawano's standalone-volume Our Insignificant Justice, originally published in Japan by TWO VIRGINS, for an English print and digital release in March 2027 in A5 format. The publisher also confirmed that Chapter 5 of the Koukoku Brothers' self-published Divine Messengers & Demonic Guardians will release digitally on August 25, 2027, with further chapters to follow as they are completed. Print pre-orders for Our Insignificant Justice and digital pre-orders for Chapter 5 are already open through the Manga Mavericks store.
Independent Manga Alliance launches
The SDCC 2026 panel also marked the formal launch of the Independent Manga Alliance, a joint venture between Manga Mavericks CEO Varun Gupta and Mahjong Pros head of partnerships and licensing Harrison Doan. Founding members include Manga Mavericks Books, Mahjong Pros, Strict Algorithm, Red String Manga, and Curation Entertainment Partners Inc. The alliance is positioned to provide distribution, marketing, and sales support for independent creators and small publishers, with information hosted on its official website and social channels.
