Netflix heads into Q2 earnings with engagement under scrutiny
Netflix was set to report second-quarter results later on Thursday, with analysts polled by LSEG forecasting a 13.6% revenue increase to $12.59 billion — the company's slowest growth in over four quarters — and adjusted EPS of 79 cents, according to Reuters via Cyprus Mail. The advertising business is expected to generate $705.8 million, with eMarketer analyst Ross Benes noting the ad business has not grown as strongly as most analysts originally expected. The company has shed more than a fifth of its value this year amid questions about user engagement. CNBC reported Netflix is exploring a bid for the 2030 and 2034 FIFA World Cup US rights and is in talks to acquire online film platform Letterboxd, while Bloomberg reported hit shows such as The Night Agent and Beef have lost roughly half or more of their audience after their first season.
