Record admissions in France and Italy

France recorded 19.9 million cinema admissions in August, its highest August figure since monthly records began in 1980 and twice the level recorded in August 2025. Italy's cinemas recorded 20.8 million admissions and €162.3 million in box office receipts from June through August, their strongest such period and strongest August on record.
Regional box office growth
The International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) reported that box office revenue across Europe, the Middle East and Africa rose 88% year-on-year, extending double-digit growth in the regions to an eighth consecutive month. Gower Street separately reported year-on-year increases in Spain, the Netherlands and the UK and Ireland.
Titles associated with the results
UNIC attributed the strong results to international blockbusters including Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey, as well as local productions such as the French drama De Gaulle, the German comedy Steckerlsfischfiasko and the Spanish family film Tadeo Jones 4. Laura Houlgatte, UNIC's CEO, said the summer demonstrated public enthusiasm for cinemas and the theatrical experience.
