The television anime adaptation of "The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life" (also referred to as Chi-Fuyo) will premiere on October 6, airing on the TV Tokyo network, with AT-X following from October 8 and ABEMA and d Anime Store carrying the earliest streams. Story and protagonist
The series follows Rein, an enchanter who strengthens equipment for his guild through invested mana. After the guild determines its gear is powerful enough, it expels him, prompting Rein to withdraw his mana and channel it into a copper sword, which gains 10,000 enhancement points. With no combat experience, he sets out again as an adventurer.
New cast members
Three additional cast members were announced for the series. Takumi Yamazaki will voice Donguri, the dog kept by Margaret, and Taiten Kusunoki joins as Barios, the guild master who expelled Rein. Megumi Toyoguchi was cast as Grenda, the deputy master of that guild. They join previously announced voice actors including Daiki Yamashita as Rein and Lynn as Lily.
Opening theme and music
The rock band sumika will perform the opening theme song "Ember Torch" (Enba Toochi), which is previewed in the promotional video. Arisa Okehazama is composing the series' music, with Ryosuke Naya serving as sound director. The main visual places Rein alongside Lily, Elsie, and Nina of the Blue Crystal guild, with Margaret, Donguri, and the assassin Mirabelle.
Production staff and source material
Osamu Homma is directing the anime at studio P.A. Works, with Yoko Yonaiyama handling series composition and Yuito Kiyosawa serving as character designer and chief animation director. The series adapts a story originally serialized on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website since 2021, with a manga adaptation that runs in Getsumaga Kichi on Kodansha's web manga service and is available digitally in English via Kodansha's K MANGA service.
