Second Friday takes a heavy toll on 'Toxic'
Yash's "Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups" suffered a steep slide on its second Friday, collecting an estimated Rs 1.75 crore in India net across 2,253 shows, according to Sacnilk data cited by the Times of India. That figure marked a 58.8% decline from the previous day's Rs 4.25 crore take, underscoring the film's struggle to hold momentum in its second week. With the Day 10 addition, the film's India net total has climbed to Rs 241.05 crore, while its India gross has reached approximately Rs 287.75 crore after ten days of theatrical play.
Hindi and Kannada versions carry the bulk of domestic earnings
The Hindi and Kannada versions were the principal contributors to the Day 10 India net collection, each bringing in Rs 85 lakhs. The Hindi edition played across 1,501 shows with an overall occupancy of 21.55%, registering 10.62% in morning shows, 23.38% in afternoon shows, 20.00% in evening shows and 27.3% in night shows, with reported occupancy of 23.0%. The Kannada version, running in 642 shows, recorded 22.0% occupancy. The Telugu and Tamil versions contributed Rs 4 lakhs (77 shows) and Rs 1 lakh (33 shows), respectively.
Worldwide gross pushes past Rs 331 crore
Overseas markets continued to add to the total, with "Toxic" collecting approximately Rs 50 lakhs internationally on its second Friday. The film's overseas gross now stands at Rs 43.25 crore, and combining domestic and international earnings, the worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 331.00 crore. The Times of India noted that the movie had closed its first week with an India net collection of Rs 239.30 crore, before slipping to Rs 5.45 crore on the second Wednesday and Rs 4.25 crore on the second Thursday.
Day 9 had already signaled a second-week slowdown
India Today's Day 9 reporting framed the trajectory that culminated in the Day 10 figure. The outlet noted that after earning Rs 7.85 crore on Day 8, the Geetu Mohandas-directed film collected Rs 5.45 crore nett in India on Thursday, a decline of around 30% that pointed to a weak second-week hold. By the end of Day 9, Sacnilk's India net collection had stood at Rs 235.05 crore, with India gross around Rs 280.70 crore and worldwide gross past Rs 322 crore. India Today also flagged the daily collection trend, observing that the film, despite a strong opening, had been steadily declining since its first week.
A smaller release, 'Hanuman Ansh', has drawn industry attention
India Today contrasted "Toxic"'s trajectory with the surprise run of "Hanuman Ansh," a devotional drama made on a reported budget of around Rs 2 crore that has been delivering strong weekly figures through word of mouth. On Day 26, the smaller film earned Rs 8.50 crore nett against the Day 8 Rs 7.85 crore figure for "Toxic," despite playing in far fewer shows, highlighting how the two films have moved along very different box-office arcs.
Upcoming milestones
The next verifiable checkpoint for "Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups" is its second Saturday and Sunday performance, which will determine whether the film can stabilize its second-weekend hold or whether the Day 10 decline extends into the weekend.
