High-end gaming PC discounts
Several retailers marked down premium gaming desktops. Dell is offering $1,500 off the Alienware Area-51 AMD Ryzen X3D edition equipped with a GeForce RTX 5090 GPU and 64GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, with the price described as "still expensive, but a competitive price point in today's market for an extremely powerful gaming PC." Separately, Walmart's best-selling Ningmei Gaming PC was discounted by $730 in a Flash Deal.
Mid-range and handheld PC price cuts
Walmart also listed the ABS Flux II Aqua Gaming PC, configured with an Intel Core i5-14400F, an ASRock Arc B580 12GB graphics card, 32GB of DDR5, a 1TB SSD, and a 650W PSU, for $849 with free shipping. For portable gaming, Best Buy cut $100 off a like-new Asus ROG Xbox Ally X handheld, described as "the most powerful Windows-based gaming handheld." The Xbox Ally X typically sells for $1,000.
AMD retains gaming CPU crown
A head-to-head review compared AMD's Ryzen 9 9950X3D with Intel's Core Ultra 7 270K Plus. AMD's flagship 3D V-Cache desktop processor was found to remain "the current PC-gaming champ," though Intel's "surprisingly affordable challenger mixes up the whole buying equation." The review also notes that AMD's newer Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 has since launched, leaving the 9950X3D as an arguable best option within AMD's consumer lineup.
