Xiaomi has added a floor-standing garment-care appliance to its Mijia smart-home lineup, the Mijia Pressurized Steam Iron. The unit is listed on JD.com at 587.05 yuan (about $85), with discount coupons and government subsidies reported to bring the effective price to roughly $65. For now, Xiaomi is offering the product only on its domestic market in China.
Pressurized steam performance
The device is built around an electromagnetic pump rated at 500 kPa, a built-in boiler, and a 2,200W heating system that delivers 135°C steam with a continuous output of up to 40 grams per minute. Xiaomi says the pressurized steam can penetrate up to eight layers of silk, and the company rates wrinkle-removal efficiency at up to 90%. The system also claims a 99.99% sterilization rate against bacteria on treated garments.
Secondary heating and condensation control
A secondary heating stage reheats steam directly on the soleplate to 135°C, a design Xiaomi says significantly reduces condensation and prevents residual moisture on clothes, cutting out prolonged drying afterward. The soleplate uses a ceramic enamel coating that Xiaomi credits with smooth gliding and even heat distribution across fabric.
Controls, board, and fabric modes
An integrated ironing board adjusts from 0 to 90 degrees and can be locked vertically, tilted to 45 degrees, or laid flat. All controls sit on the handle so users do not have to bend to the base unit. Three fabric-specific steam modes cover lightweight summer clothing, mid-season garments, and thicker winter fabrics, with a burst-steam mode for stubborn wrinkles and formal wear. A grip sensor starts steam when the handle is picked up and stops it on release.
Tank capacity and safety systems
A 2-liter removable water tank supports up to 40 minutes of continuous operation, enough for roughly 17 shirts, 20 pairs of trousers, or 14 jackets, according to Xiaomi. The unit weighs 7.5 kg and ships with a telescopic aluminium rod, shoulder-shaped hanger, wool-cleaning brush, and anti-scald glove. Four-level protection combines a thermal fuse, NTC temperature sensor, tip-over shutoff, and 30-minute idle auto-shutoff.
