Thank You Bus Driver reveal and platforms

Double Fine Productions announced Thank You Bus Driver, a chaotic bus-driving game in which players take the role of a town bus driver trying to get through the day with minimal rulebreaking. The studio confirmed the game will be available for PC via Steam, GOG, Humble Store, and itch.io. A release date was not announced.
Core gameplay loop
According to the studio overview, three priorities define a route: preventing rulebreaking, staying on track, and keeping to schedule. The rules aboard the bus change every day, and the depot adds additional restrictions over time. Players can slap rulebreaking passengers as a warning, revoke the bus privileges of repeat offenders, and remove them through the back door.
Driving mechanics and the schedule system
The driver can pull up the map mid-turn or take shortcuts through fields, while avoiding pedestrians, traffic, and fences is described as optional as long as the bus reaches its next stop before passengers become upset. Every stop carries a time limit; happy passengers provide Thank Yous that extend the time available for the next destination and unlock further bus tchotchkes, town variants, and other content.
Studio context following its split from Xbox
Thank You Bus Driver is Double Fine's first new title announcement since separating from Microsoft earlier in 2026. The studio has since shadow-dropped Keeper on PS5 alongside a "Psychedelic Mode" update and price reductions on Keeper and Kiln across platforms, and it has revived its Amnesia Fortnight game jam with a $400,000 crowdfunding goal directed at its next project.
Unresolved question
The most notable open detail is the release window: Double Fine and the outlets covering the announcement have not provided a date for Thank You Bus Driver on Steam or its other PC storefronts.
