Gears of War: E-Day global launch
Gears of War: E-Day launched globally on Xbox, PC, and Game Pass on October 6, 2026, following an early access release on October 1. The game is the first Xbox-exclusive title released under new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and the first new mainline Gears of War entry of the current console generation. It carries an 87 score on Metacritic and supports co-op for up to three players in its campaign.
Multiplayer, modes and platform availability
The release retains the series' traditional Versus mode and introduces a new Horde Siege PvE mode supporting up to 12 players across three squads. Crossplay multiplayer is available across Xbox and PC, and the game is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Xbox 2026 release slate
Microsoft delivered a new release for each of its main tentpole franchises in 2026. Forza Horizon 6 launched in May, followed by Halo: Campaign Evolved in July, a remaster of the original Halo campaign. Gears of War: E-Day completes that schedule as the third major first-party Xbox release of the year.
