Singer Slayyyter, born Catherine Grace Garner, has announced “Wor$t Man in America,” a companion project to her mainstream breakthrough “Wor$t Girl in America,” due out on Dec. 4 through RECORDS/Columbia Records. A release describes the new record as a “counterpart to its predecessor,” continuing the sonic world of the original but viewed through an “inverted lens,” with some tracks serving as direct inversions of songs on “Wor$t Girl in America” and others forming “a parallel narrative that both mirrors and challenges the original project.” The project is explicitly not a deluxe edition; every track is new aside from the previously released singles “Brand New Chanels” and “Crank 2.”
Nine-track companion project
The album runs nine tracks: “Brand New Chanels,” “crank 2,” “$$$,” “Nekromantik!,” “I Think He’s Got A Girl,” “Hey Boyyy,” “Parking Lot,” “Perfect Woman,” and “Hymn.” Both outlets published the full track listing alongside the announcement, underscoring the project’s tight, singles-driven structure and the inclusion of cuts she has been performing live since launching her tour.
Teased live before release
Slayyyter has been previewing material from the project since launching her “Worst Girl in the World” tour in July, debuting “brand new chanel$,” “nekromantik!,” “crank 2,” and “i think he’s got a girl” during opening shows in her hometown of St. Louis. “brand new chanel$” received an official streaming release shortly after opening night, and the official version of “crank 2” followed in September. The announcement came a day after she closed out the U.S. leg of the tour in Brooklyn.
A banner year ahead of release
The “Wor$t Man in America” announcement lands in the middle of a breakout year for the 30-year-old Missouri native. “Wor$t Girl in America,” her major-label debut, was released on March 27, and festival sets at Coachella, Governors Ball and Lollapalooza helped push her further into the mainstream. She is currently on a sold-out run that began with three hometown shows in St. Louis and is set to extend to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paris and Berlin, with additional sold-out dates in Europe and the United Kingdom.
Next milestone
“Wor$t Man in America” is scheduled for release on Dec. 4 via RECORDS/Columbia Records, with additional preview singles and international tour dates expected before then.
