Taylor Ruck closed the second stop of the three-meet World Aquatics Swimming World Cup with a podium-topping performance for Canada on Saturday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 26-year-old from Kelowna, B.C., won the women's 200-meter backstroke in 2:02.41, finishing ahead of Anna Peplowski of the United States in 2:02.71 and Japan's Waka Kobori in 2:06.99. The race capped a multi-medal Tashkent run for the four-time Olympic medallist, who also took silver in the women's 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle earlier in the meet, according to The Canadian Press reporting carried by CBC Sports.

Canada's medal haul in Tashkent

Canada finished the Tashkent stop with seven medals — one gold, three silver and three bronze — as reported by The Canadian Press. Ruck's three individual podium appearances contributed to that tally, with teammates adding silvers and bronzes during the competition.

Context within the World Cup series

The Tashkent leg was the second of three meets in the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup series, with the finale scheduled for next week in Kazakhstan, according to the same Canadian Press dispatch.
