A Samsung official told The Korea Herald that the company's first Android XR smart glasses will launch in November 2026, according to reporting carried by outlets covering the Android ecosystem. No specific release date or details about a launch event were disclosed. The glasses are positioned as the first commercial release from Samsung's Android XR lineup and were previously showcased in July 2026 at the Galaxy Z Fold 8 launch event.

Display-less design and hardware targets

The first Samsung Android XR glasses are described as display-less models similar in form factor to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses, with a built-in camera and AI handled through microphones and speakers. Google's Gemini assistant processes what the camera sees and what the wearer says, with the connected Galaxy phone doing the heavier computing work. Samsung has set a weight target roughly 5 grams lighter than Meta's base Ray-Ban model, which weighs about 51 to 51.5 grams. Frames are being designed by Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, both of which were on display at Samsung's July showcase.

Capabilities and privacy features

The glasses can handle tasks such as directions, nearby search, speech translation, and hands-free photography. Privacy is addressed through two small indicator lights that show when the camera is active; covering the lights disables the camera. Samsung and Google jointly showed the glasses at Google I/O in May 2026.

Pricing and regulatory status

Samsung has not announced pricing, though leaked figures cited by SamMobile point to a range of $349 to $499. For comparison, Meta's camera-equipped Ray-Ban glasses start at $449, and the recently announced screen-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio is priced at $349. The glasses have passed Federal Communications Commission approval, a step that typically precedes a near-term release. Two model designations, SM-O200P and SM-O200, were identified in the FCC filing.

Color display model further out

A Samsung Android XR variant with a built-in color display is not expected until late 2027, leaving the November launch focused on the camera-and-AI category. Meta currently holds roughly 94% of the smart-glasses-without-a-screen market segment.
