Wall Street Lifts AMD Targets to a Street-High $725
AMD shares rose between roughly 2.6% and 6% during Tuesday's session, depending on the time of day, after three top-tier banks raised their price targets. KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst John Vinh lifted his target to $725 from $530, the highest on the Street, citing strong AI data-center demand after a recent Asia trip that he said also pointed to persistent memory shortages and tighter DRAM and NAND supply. Bank of America Securities' Vivek Arya raised his target to $620 from $550 and reiterated a Buy rating, citing "exceptional" demand for EPYC server chips and a setup for a beat-and-raise quarter. TD Cowen's Joshua Buchalter increased his target to $675 from $600. MarketBeat-tracked data showed AMD with a consensus "Moderate Buy" rating and an average target near $467.
First Chinese Export License for AMD AI Chips
AMD and Nvidia shares climbed after a Reuters report that three Chinese companies, including a unit of ZTE and a subsidiary of Kingsoft Cloud, received U.S. approval to purchase advanced AI chips. ZTE Kangxun Telecom and server maker Maginfra were cleared to buy Nvidia's H200 processors, while Zhuhai Hengqin Yunxiang Zhisheng Network Technology was cleared to purchase competing AMD chips that rival the H200. The approvals expand the list of Chinese buyers beyond the roughly ten firms, including Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance and JD.com, that received similar clearance in May. AMD's stock rose almost 4% intraday on the news, with the Stocktwits-tracked sentiment around the stock remaining in bearish territory despite the gain.
Advancing AI 2026 to Spotlight Zen 6 EPYC Venice and Helios
AMD's annual Advancing AI conference opens July 22 in San Francisco, with a keynote from CEO Lisa Su on July 23. The company will give its first public look at EPYC Venice, the Zen 6 server processor built on TSMC's 2-nanometer node, which AMD says delivers up to 1.7x the AI performance of the prior generation. Coverage based on TechSpot reporting and AMD's own event page notes the chip packs 256 Zen 6 cores, up from 192, uses the new SP7 socket, supports 16-channel memory with up to 1.6 TB/s of bandwidth, and includes PCIe 6 for CPU-to-GPU communication. Cloud and Hardware Partners Expand AMD's Footprint
Independent vendors are building on AMD's AI stack. Featherless launched a private-cloud version of Z.ai's GLM 5.2 model optimized to run natively on AMD hardware, priced at a flat $7,500 per month or $90,000 per year, claiming inference cost savings of roughly 94% against leading closed models. Silo Pharma's QwikAgents subsidiary said it has been accepted into the AMD AI Developer Program, gaining access to AMD Developer Cloud credits, advanced AI tools and training resources. Lenovo began global sales of its ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 AMD mobile workstation with Ryzen AI PRO processors, up to 96GB of LPCAMM2 memory and optional RTX PRO Blackwell laptop graphics. In China, COLORFIRE added a configuration of its MEOW R16 Ultra gaming laptop combining a Ryzen 9 9850HX processor with an Nvidia RTX 5060 mobile GPU at roughly $1,637 before taxes.
Consumer Demand Climbs for Older AMD CPUs Amid Memory Shortage
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition reached fourth place on Amazon's CPU best-sellers list, with all top ten spots held by AMD models and the highest Intel entrant sitting at 15th. Newegg is selling the chip for $349 and bundling it with a free MSI MAG CoreLiquid 240mm AIO cooler valued at roughly $70, bringing effective pricing for the processor below $300. The chip is built on the AM4 platform, which supports cheaper DDR4 memory, an advantage while DRAM shortages have pushed DDR5 prices sharply higher. Susquehanna research noted that legacy CPUs from AMD and Intel are appearing more often in 2026 PC builds as the two companies prioritize server parts. Elsewhere, AMD's FSR 4 upscaler was spotted inside Valve's Proton Experimental compatibility layer for Linux gaming, third-party Radeon tuning software revealed hidden settings for up to 8x Multi Frame Generation alongside FSR Ray Regeneration and Neural Radiance Caching overrides, and GPD detailed the WIN Max 3 Strix Halo handheld with Ryzen AI Max+ 395 or 388 processors, the Radeon 8060S iGPU and a detachable 97Wh battery. The next verifiable milestones are AMD's Advancing AI keynote on July 23 and its second-quarter earnings release after the close on August 4.
