Hide what matters without trusting one automatic pass
Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image and decide which details could identify or expose someone. “Find faces on this device” can suggest likely faces, but each box is only a starting point. Drag a box to move it, use its coral corner to resize it, or enter exact X, Y, width, and height values. Drag across the image to add a manual area for a badge, address, license plate, screen, document, reflection, or other sensitive detail. Exclude a suggestion when it should remain visible, and remove a misplaced box.
Choose Blur for a soft effect or Pixelate for visible blocks, then adjust the strength while watching the image. Before and After compare the source with the working redaction. A dashed excluded box is never applied. The download is a new flattened PNG, so hidden areas are rendered into the result rather than saved as editable overlays. A practical final-review checklist for private images
Automatic face finding can miss profiles, small or covered faces, reflections, posters, and people shown on screens. It can also mark something that is not a face. Review every corner, including windows, mirrors, background crowds, badges, paperwork, house numbers, plates, and notifications. Before posting publicly, ask whether clothing, surroundings, timestamps, landmarks, or context reveal more than the blurred pixels.
Cover the full identifying area, including recognizable edges. Stronger blur is not safer when a box is too small or misplaced, and pixelation can leave recognizable shapes and colors. Neither effect guarantees anonymity or controls copies, screenshots, and caches. For high-risk disclosure, follow your organization’s review process and ask another person to inspect the final file when possible.
Private processing, output behavior, and limits
The image, suggestions, manual areas, preview, and PNG export stay in the current browser tab. The face-finding model is served by NexaCurrent and runs on this device; your image is not sent back for analysis. Manual areas still work if automatic finding is unavailable. Replacing the image or closing the page releases temporary previews and editable state. Files are limited to 20 MB and 20 megapixels to reduce browser memory pressure.
The exported PNG preserves the visible redaction but may be larger than a JPEG source. It does not promise to preserve camera metadata, color-management behavior, animation, layers, or every source-format feature. Blur samples nearby pixels and pixelation groups pixels into blocks, so both effects intentionally destroy visible detail inside included boxes. Retain the original only where your privacy and records policy allows it, and share the redacted copy rather than a screenshot of the editor. If metadata may disclose location, device, author, or capture time, use the metadata tools and verify the downloaded file separately before publishing.
