How to crop an image precisely
Choose one JPG, PNG, or WebP image, then drag across the preview to mark the part you want to keep. The dimmed area will be removed from the exported copy. A rule-of-thirds grid helps place a subject without hiding the exact boundary. If you already know the required preview rectangle, enter its X and Y starting position plus selection width and height. The exported result is calculated from the corresponding original-image area, so enlarging the preview does not silently reduce its available source pixels.
Use a free selection for custom framing, the original ratio to preserve the source shape, square for avatars, 4:5 portrait for common social layouts, or 16:9 landscape for banners and video thumbnails. Rotate left or right before choosing the crop when a scan or camera image is sideways. Image zoom changes the comfortable on-screen working view; the result message reports the actual exported pixel dimensions.
Plan the crop for its final destination
Start with the destination’s aspect ratio and minimum pixel size. A square avatar can be visually balanced while still leaving enough space around a face for a circular profile mask. Product thumbnails often need consistent framing across a catalog, while a document scan usually benefits from a tight rectangular crop that removes the desk or scanner edge. Reset crop restores the initial centered selection when you want to begin again without choosing the file twice.
PNG preserves transparent edges and crisp interface artwork. JPEG creates a compact photographic file but replaces transparency with white. WebP can retain transparency while reducing size when the destination supports it. The quality slider primarily affects lossy JPEG and WebP output. Always open the downloaded image at its actual destination, because another platform may add its own crop, safe area, rounded mask, or recompression.
Privacy and irreversible pixel removal
The image stays in the current browser tab while the preview, rotation, crop, and export are created. NexaCurrent does not receive the file or save a crop history. The exported image is a new file with a descriptive name; the original is never overwritten. Temporary previews are cleared when you replace the file, clear a result, refresh, close, or leave the page.
Cropping removes every pixel outside the selected rectangle from the exported copy. It cannot be undone after download unless you still have the original. A crop can hide visible information, but it is not a complete privacy or forensic-redaction workflow: metadata, other files, cached copies, and context may still disclose information. Use the dedicated metadata and privacy tools and follow the required review process when a disclosure could cause harm.
