A Market-Address Design Hotel in the Heart of Munich

Tucked right onto the cobblestone edge of the Viktualienmarkt, Louis Hotel places you in the sensory swirl of Munich's old town — flower stalls, fruit pyramids and the hum of locals all spilling out from the square in front of the door.

The setting is a deliberate one: the address is Viktualienmarkt 6, and the building is more than a century old, lending the property a layered, historic shell that contrasts with its contemporary design language.

Where Old Walls Meet Modern Design

Louis Hotel opened in September 2009 after almost two years of construction, with the goal of adapting a building more than 100 years old to the architectural rhythm of central Munich — keeping the character of the Altstadt while answering the demands of contemporary construction.

The Munich-based architects Hild und K led that remake, working to preserve the building's charm and structural integrity as part of a renovation that paired heritage walls with sleek, modern interiors.

Stylish Rooms with a Handcrafted Touch

Inside, 72 rooms set the tone: handcrafted furniture made from natural materials and innovative design give each space a warm, considered feel. The rooms are equipped with an iPod dock, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a minibar fridge, and tea and coffee-making facilities — small, thoughtful touches designed to ease the everyday rhythm of travel.

Dining Above the Rooftops

The in-house restaurant turns culinary moments into a vantage point: expect regional products reimagined as creative flavour experiences, paired with views that stretch across the rooftops of the city.

The LOUIS Rooftop extends that view further into the sky. From 01 May it opens daily from 12:00, weather permitting — a relaxed perch above the rooftops to watch Munich shift from day to evening.

Events, Meetings and a Creative Edge

For business occasions or private gatherings, stylish meeting rooms are available, fitted with modern technology and an inspiring ambience — a setting suited to workshops, meetings or small events.

Getting Around from Viktualienmarkt

The hotel's location makes moving through Munich remarkably easy.Marienplatz, with its S-Bahn and U-Bahn connections, is a short walk away, putting the wider city and onward transport within quick reach. The Hofbräuhaus and theMaximilianstraßeare also within walking distance, framing the hotel between two of Munich's most recognisable streets.

For arrivals by air, the airport is roughly 35 minutes away.

Practical Considerations

Rooms are typically ready from 15:00 on the day of arrival. Rooftop hours and on-site services reflect the current schedule, so it's worth checking the latest details directly with the hotel before you plan around them, as some offerings can change with the season.
